The Little Sunflower that Fell in Love with the Moon

An animated short movie directed By Antonio Padovan, a 6 weeks Final Thesis production, involving 80 students from the “BigRock Institute of Magic Technologies”.

I am so proud to have been part of this beautiful short movie!

My WorkReference Sheets – 3D Modeling – Layout – Rendering – Making Of

The movie is directed by Antonio Padovan, who had the idea for the story and took care of the first steps of the project.

He also put and set the cameras directly in the 3D scene, using the HTC Vive technology – thanks to the Stormborn Studio and the Master VR I group.

We were 80 students working on it for 6 weeks, plus several other artists helping and supporting us during the entire thesis.

All the 80 students had a task or more; during the first weeks of the thesis I was in the 3D Modelling group, and my task was not only to model the 3D objects we needed, but I was also part of the modellers representative group, so we went to the reviews, prepared the reference sheets for all the modellers, made a previous review inside the group; and those were only some of our tasks.

When the 3D models were almost ready and we started to put them in the scene, I moved into the Layout department, where we basically set up the room (main set of the movie) and optimized it, so that we could have a light and speed scene for the renders.

Once the 3D models in the scene were ready and lighters and shaders were working on it, I moved again to the Rendering department. We worked on the render tests to set up the render settings and then we sent the renders of the entire movie during the nights and weekends, so we could use all 80 computers as a render farm.

I also had some time to help the Making Of department with some ideas and animations that they used in the Making Of movie.
